Ohio man accused of driving to W.Va. for sexual encounter with 14-year-old girl

WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — An Ohio man is accused of driving to West Virginia to meet up with someone he believed to be a teenage girl to have a sexual encounter, police said.
Jerry Christopher Simoncic, 56, of Zanesville has been charged with soliciting a minor with a computer, according to a social media post from the Parkersburg Police Department.
The news release said Simoncic started a conversation over social media with a detective he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.
Police said the conversation progressively became “more sexually driven by Mr. Simoncic” and he expressed an interest in traveling to Parkersburg for a sexual relationship.
Officers said Simoncic was stopped on the way to a planned meeting location and taken into custody.
Simoncic is being held on a $75,000 bond at North Central Regional Jail.
