Man accused of repeatedly abusing dog at South Charleston home

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A man in South Charleston has been accused of animal cruelty, police said.
Bryan Stephen Atkinson, 19, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty on Friday, according to a criminal complaint filed to Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Police said that they arrived the house of a neighbor of Atkinson's, who told police of the animal cruelty going on in the 19-year-old's household. Police then said they reviewed video evidence that allegedly shows Atkinson violently slamming the dog to the ground, kicking the dog, throwing the dog into a pole, and forcefully slamming the dog's head into the ground repeatedly.
Atkinson was then arrested, where police said he didn't know why he abused the dog, he was just mad that the dog urinated on his Air Force shoes.
