New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was shot and wounded outside a New York City's Midtown on Sunday morning, the New York Post reports.

Boyd was shot in the abdomen and immediately rushed to Bellevue Hospital.

The New York Police Department said the Boyd is in critical but stable condition.

A spokesperson from the Jets said that the team is aware of the situation and has no further comment at the moment.

The 29-year-old was shot outside of the Sei Less restaurant on West 38th Street shortly after 2 a.m. ET.

The New York post reports that a dispute broke out and turned violent when the gunman fired two shots.

Sources say that the shooter, who has yet to be identified, fled the scene in a BMW X8 SUV.

Following the shooting, Boyd lapsed in and out of consciousness before being taken to the hospital.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Boyd, who is in his first season with the jets after signing a one-year, $1.6 million contract in free agency, was benched this season after suffering a shoulder injury in the preseason.
