W.Va. National Guard delivers more than 900,000 pounds of food amid SNAP delays
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — The West Virginia National Guard has released updates on continuing efforts to address food scarcity amid delays in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Late last month, more than 200 Guard members were activated to transport and distribute food. On Monday, the WVNG released updated numbers regarding operations:
- 900,000+ pounds of food delivered
- 14,000 miles driven
- 2,200 hours worked
- 60 assistance checks delivered
- 45 counties served
- 40 food pantries assisted
Aside from moving supplies for pantries, Facing Hunger and Mountaineer food banks, the WVNG plans to assist two mobile food pantries this week.

More than $13 million in state funding has been released to aid West Virginia food banks.
