Winfield shuts out Poca 65-0

The Winfield Generals shut out Poca 65-0, and controlled the Dots in all aspects of the game Friday night.

Winfield’s K-Juan Pearson scored three touchdowns on the night for the Generals, including a 50-yard run early in the first quarter to put Winfield on top of the Dots 8-0.

Jayce Miller found the end zone for Winfield later in the first, to extend the Generals’ lead to 22-0 in the first quarter.

Winfield’s Tre Tanner returned a Poca punt for a touchdown, putting the Generals over the Dots 28-0.

Pearson scored his second touchdown on a long run in the second quarter to put the Generals’ on top 41-0, before he scored his third touchdown, again in the second quarter, putting Winfield over Poca 47-0.

The Generals weren’t done yet in the first half, as Jared Miller ran it in for a score on a quarterback keeper to extend Winfield’s lead to 53-0 over Poca just before halftime.

Early in the third quarter, Winfield’s Luke Davis intercepted a Poca pass for a pick-6 touchdown to put the Generals on top of Poca 59-0.

A blocked punt by Winfield resulting in a touchdown rounded out the scoring in the game, bringing the final to 65-0 Winfield.

Winfield improves to 5-1 on the season, while Poca falls to 3-4.

There is no Friday Night Rivals game next Friday, but it will continue with Wayne visiting Sissionville at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20.
