Unclaimed Baggage: an Alabama treasure trove where lost luggage gets a second chance
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (Amazing America TV) — Traveling for Thanksgiving? Keep a close eye on your luggage, or it could end up at Unclaimed Baggage, a 50,000 square foot warehouse and store in Alabama, filled to the brim with misplaced or abandoned belongings.
But fear not! According to Unclaimed Baggage, the nation’s only retailer of lost luggage, an extensive three-month search must happen before an unclaimed bag can be declared “orphaned,” which only happens to about 0.03% of all checked luggage.
This is where Unclaimed Baggage comes in. They have purchasing agreements with all domestic airlines and various transportation companies, which they use to buy these “orphaned” items. They then restore the items as needed and offer them up to customers looking for one-of-a-kind secondhand treasures.
You never know what you’ll find at Unclaimed Baggage. No visit is the same!
There’s even a “Museum” section, which displays the most unique pieces for guests to admire, but not purchase.
If you are interested in checking it out, Unclaimed Baggage is located at 509 W. Willow St. in Scottsboro, Alabama. Their operating hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
