UC women's basketball comes up short against Frostburg State, 84-83
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — University of Charleston women's basketball couldn't hold on to a 3-point lead with 1:11 left in the game and fell to Frostburg State 84-83.
UC won the points of turnovers margin (19-10) and points in the paint (56-36) but in the end the Golden Eagles were unable to hang on.
Haley Moore was called for a foul with 20 seconds left in the game and Emilee Weakley made them both to put Frostburg State ahead for good. UC's Taylor Austin had a look at the buzzer but it didn't fall.
Clarrissa Francis led Charleston with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds. Nia Vanzant chipped in with 17 points (7-16 FG) and Austin added 12 points.
Weakley had a game-high 24 points for Frostburg State.
