The University of Charleston football team is preparing to playCalifornia University of Pennsylvania on Saturday at noon in the Golden Eagles home opener.

UC is coming off a convincing 38-7 win over Livingstone College. The offense piled up 409 yards of total offense. Senior quarterback Javonte Howard threw for 226 passing yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Howard continues to grow as a QB and make smart decisions.

"Early on in his career, you know, he'd go out there and he'd get though for three, four hundred yards, but wasn't always making the best decisions," UC Head Coach Quinn Sanders said.

"Now he's making such calculated decisions for us, always just putting us in the best place as an offense, because he understands, you know, our ultimate goal is to win."

"He doesn't care if you throw it for one yard or a hundred yards or 200 yards as long as we win."
