Two undefeated teams in high school football have their communities excited for a Friday night showdown with the playoffs around the corner.

The Chapmanville Tigers roll into late October a perfect 8-0, but will tasked with defending their home turf against another unbeaten in the Miners of Mingo Central.

“I hope it lives up the hype,” Chapmanville head coach Zach Belcher said.

Eyewitness Sports spoke with team members preparing for one of West Virginia’s marquee games.

"It’s not very often that you get to see two undefeated teams this part of the season,” running back Preston Kavach said. “Both teams come in 8-0. You aren’t going to see that very often."

Quarterback Dakota Dalton feels the game is a great measuring stick for area teams.

"I’m just really excited, especially with two undefeated teams in West Virginia,” he said. “A lot of times you don't get to have that.”

The contest comes as the regular season winds down and each score has playoff implications.

“The standard is nothing but to play awesome and winning the playoffs,” Belcher said. “We strive each week to be great and better than what we were last week. Week zero starts in two weeks and we got to make sure that our craft is honed in."

The Tigers will look to defend Barker Stadium with kickoff scheduled at 7 p.m.
