Many families, couples, or individuals, don't have time to prepare meals with their busy schedules, let alone strive to make those meals healthy. The convenience of fast food or a quick bag of chips has unfortunately become the norm.

Nationally-advertised meal prep companies offer solutions such as Hello Fresh, Blue Apron and Home Chef, but these options arrive frozen, and along with shipping costs, can be quite expensive.

Now there's a better option for people living in the Charleston/Huntington area, Hungry Horns based in Putnam County.

Started in 2023 by John and Rachel Horn, the meal prep company offers customers breakfast, lunch and dinner at a very affordable rate and is made fresh every week.

"Meal prepping takes so long," Rachel Horn said. "We are there to help people who are working and don't have time."

With weekly pickups available in Teays Valley, Charleston and Barboursville, Hungry Horns has made it convenient for anyone living in the metro area to have fresh, delicious and healthy food options. The menu changes weekly.

"We have our staples that people like, but we're always coming up with new recipes," John Horn said. "No one wants to eat the same thing week after week, you know? You've got to keep it fresh."

Ordering is easy as well. Customers can order directly from the Hungry Horns Facebook or Instagram page, or simply email them at hungryhorns@aol.com.

It's obvious that the Horns work well together. John is the boss in the kitchen, and Rachel handles the orders, marketing, and recipes.

The energetic couple and their 16 employees stay very busy averaging more than 3,000 meals weekly. That's a good problem to have from a business standpoint, but the rewards aren't always something that shows up in the books.

"The word that comes to mind is gratitude," John explained. "Whenever I do pickups people say 'Thank you so much. You're making our lives easier.' It's nice to put faces with names. That makes it all worth it."
