The full town hall discussion can be viewed below:

In August 1921, an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 coal miners went to war on the mountain with an opposing army made up of about 3,000 local law enforcement, company-hired agents and mine guards. Miners were protesting deadly working conditions, low wages and brutal violence against union members.

The Battle of Blair Mountain only came to an end when U.S. President Warren Harding sent in federal troops to intervene.

Decades later, the battle on the mountain and its roughly 2,000 acres continues, but on a different level.

The town hall focuses on the conflict, the making of the documentary, the effort to preserve the history of the mine wars and the issues still facing coal miners.
