WHITESVILLE, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — The Eyewitness News SkyTeam drone took an aerial tour of Whitesville, West Virginia, which is home to the Upper Big Branch Miners Memorial, in February 2020.
The April 5, 2010, mine explosion took the lives of 29 miners, making it the worst mining disaster in the United States since 1970.
In the years following the tragedy, memorials have been built in Whitesville and near the Upper Big Branch mine in the Montcoal area.
