A Putnam County resident was indicted after deputies said a man was allegedly beaten and held in a doghouse.

Larry Newberry, 57, of Scott Depot was indicted on charges of kidnapping, malicious assault and conspiracy to commit kidnapping and malicious assault, records said.

Court records said a 911 call in June claimed an injured man was heard screaming for help and hid on the callers property until medical help arrived.

The alleged victim told investigators he was beaten in the head with a firearm and forcibly placed in a dog house that was blocked off by a large chest and ratchet strap.

Records said the man claimed Newberry and three others had accused him of stealing drugs.
