Police say man prohibited from having weapons arrested after guns, suspected drugs found

Police in Athens County, Ohio, said a man who was prohibited from having weapons faces several charges after he was found with two guns and suspected narcotics during a traffic stop.

Devon Morrison, 20, of Nelsonville, Ohio, was arrested Sunday following a traffic stop on East Canal Street near East Green Street, according to a news release from the Nelsonville Police Department.

Police said the driver was found with suspected narcotics, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle.

Morrison was arrested on charges of possessing weapons under disability. Police said he was previously arrested March 7 on outstanding warrants and also found him to be in possession of suspected narcotics.

The news release said all suspected narcotics will be sent for testing and results will be forwarded to the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Morrison was transported to the regional jail.
