Police lapel cam shows starving children kept in dog kennel with padlock in Las Vegas home
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Warning: This story contains material that some individuals may find disturbing.
Married couple Travis Doss and Amanda Stamper are behind bars after two of Doss' children were found locked inside a dog kennel.
The children were found in the couple's Las Vegas apartment in June.
The arrest report showed police were dispatched to a Walgreens near the apartment after receiving a 911 call from Stamper on June 11.
I'm just terrified right now I need someone to come here quick," Stamper in a 911 call obtained by News 3.
Stamper told the dispatcher in the call that Doss is inside his car outside the pharmacy with their 2-year-old daughter and that he has her phone.
"Why is he going to come after you?" said the dispatcher in the audio call.
Because he told me he is going to kill me today," replied Stamper. "He already beat the kids up and I'm terrified.
"He's beaten your child?"
The kids at the apartment. He's violent," said Stamper.
Law enforcement made contact with Doss outside Walgreens and other officers went to the apartment less than a mile away.
The body camera footage is very graphic and disturbing.
When they entered the place, they found six abused children.
Two children were in a kennel with a padlock.
Police said after opening the kennel, one child was able to get out unassisted and the other had eyes bruised and swollen shut.
The child with the more serious injuries was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
In an interview with police, Doss confessed to beating the kids, except the baby, with belts, cords, a skillet, and his hands.
He said he also allowed the triplets to beat one of the other children.
Stamper would later be arrested as well after an investigation determined that she had committed the crime of child neglect.
News 3 spoke with her in a jailhouse interview about the call from Walgreens that led police to the apartment.
"He's crazy and that's the only way I felt safe to do it at the time," said Stamper. "I was always scared to move forward cuz I never did cuz he threatened my family. And he also threatened the kids that he has. And he also threatened me. It just got really bad and I knew I had to call them."
Stamper claimed that Doss has also been abusing her since they met six years ago.
"I'll always say something when he does anything," she said. "I will yell and I'll be like please stop this is insane. But then he like lashes out on me. I've been sent to the hospital with stitches. In my head in my arm."
Stamper who is currently five months pregnant, said Doss' only child he doesn't abuse is their 2-year-old.

News 3 asked why she didn't come forward earlier regarding the abuse.
"It's hard to kind of explain this kind of stuff because unless you've gone through it nobody will understand," said Stamper.
As this all unfolds, neighbors are holding their kids a little closer.
Neighbors continue to wonder why such a devastating situation was occurring in their community.
"I was in shock and I had to go hug my kids," Alana Baggett, who also lives at the Extended Stay, said. "Cuz I can't imagine - I can't imagine it. Just even thinking about it and not knowing was even scarier."
A doctor at UMC said that the child taken to the hospital would have died if he had not been brought to the hospital and that he had not seen a child that severely beaten "since his military tour in Afghanistan where he observed children who had been dipped in hot oil."
Doss and Stamper each face several counts of child abuse or neglect resulting in substantial bodily harm.
Doss also faces charges of sex trafficking and attempted murder.
