West Virginia University rolled into Peden Stadium in Athens, Ohio, on Saturday for its first college football matchup against Ohio University since 1949.

Just one week after running through Robert Morris 45-3 at home, WVU's offense didn't put up the same performance on the road, only finding the endzone once in a brutal 17-10 loss to the Bobcats.

Despite the Mountaineer defense coming up with three interceptions throughout the afternoon, WVU's offense couldn't do anything with the turnovers. Quarterback Nicco Marchiol went 15/26 for 178 yards and an interception that basically ended any chance the Mountaineers had at winning.

On the other hand, Ohio quarterback Parker Navarro had himself a day. Despite throwing three interceptions, Navarro went 22/31 for 247 yards with a touchdown pass to Chase Hendricks. Navarro also had an additional 87 rushing yards off of 18 carries.

Jahiem White scored the lone touchdown for WVU, but was injured on an awkward tackle during the second quarter. He was carted off the field just before the half and did not return to the game.

West Virginia now heads back home to Milan-Puskar Stadium, where it will square off with Pitt in what will likely be the final edition of the storied Backyard Brawl rivalry game until 2029. Kickoff is set for just after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, with television coverage on ESPN.
