We are two days away from the North-South All-Star Football Classic. The game is televised on WCHS, with kickoff set for noon.

The North Bears roster features a player who is following in the footsteps of an older brother and his last name should be familiar with Mountaineer fans.

Fairmont Senior's Dylan Ours is the second in his family to play in the game. Though in 2018, older brother Brady represented Keyser.

"I remember the day was the hottest day in the world," Ours said. "Coming out and watching all the guys, it's the best players in the state. Watching that game was a lot of fun. There's going to be a lot of things that happen. Good players from great players all around. It's always exciting to see that."

Ours' father, Wes Ours, is a former WVU standout who went on to play professionally.

"Just being that he's been through every level of the game all the way to the NFL to arena football as well," he said. "When he tells me something I think he knows a thing or two about it. When he tells me something I'm going to open my ears that I'm going to be teachable learn the lesson that he's trying to offer me."

Ours picked up plenty from his older brother and dear old dad while carving out a great career for himself, culminating with Fairmont's dramatic win over rival North Marion for the AA state championship last December at Wheeling Island Stadium.

"It was a thriller for sure until the very last second. You know all the way up to that two-point conversion. We battled for all 48 minutes of that football game," Ours recalled. "It as an offensive battle both ways. Defenses were playing hard but offenses were just so strong."

Ours is going to be taking his talents to NCAA Division II Cal, Pa.

"I think California took the most advantage of they wanted me the most. They stepped the foot in front of the door wanting to get me up there," he said. "Wanted to do whatever they could for me and just the love I felt from them is what kind of made the decision easy for me. Being that it's only an hour and a half away from Fairmont. It's an easy commute for me and dad to come watch the football game. And another thing is I have a good chance of starting the next year my freshman year."

For now, his hope is to help lead the North to a seventh victory in the last eight games.
