North-South All-Star Football Classic: Bowens brings state championship speed to game

INSTITUTE, W. Va. (WCHS-TV) — Wayne's Ethan Bowens will take his state championship track speed to the football field this weekend.
"It's been a crazy three weeks," Bowens said. "It's been awesome. I don't have much else to say about it. It's just been awesome."
I don't think anyone will argue with Bowens.
First came the call to be in the North-South Classic.
"I got the call I was going to be playing about three weeks ago from coach Aaron Baker and immediately I was like, 'Yeah, I'm coming," he said.
And then, Bowens went on to win two state championships in track, capturing the 100-meter and 400-meter dash crowns in the State Meet.
"That's something I've dreamed about since being a little kid. To finally have done it, I was overcome with emotion. It felt good," he said.
And then came the congratulations from the Wayne community.
"My name is on a billboard down there for the 100 and 400, and it's just awesome. To have a community and school and principal and teachers and staff like we do to text you and congratulate you is amazing. It means the world to me," Bowens said.
And now, before heading off to Marshall with dreams of becoming a sports medicine doctor, he is excited to be playing in the Classic.
The Par Mar Friday Night Rivals North-South All-Star Football Classic will kick off Saturday, June 19, at South Charleston High School. The broadcast begins at noon and will be streamed on wchstv.com.
"I'm just excited to play one more game, and these guys are like another family," he said. "Football is family. Football is fun. It's just fun to be back out here again playing.:"
Yes, indeed, what an awesome couple of weeks it's been for Wayne's Ethan Bowens.
