This past May, the Pendleton County Wildcats reached the Class A state championship basketball game. And Josh Alt was a big reason why.

"COVID obviously a battle, but it was a battle for everybody. And we were really able to keep focused on the goals that were ahead of us. Football and in basketball. Basketball getting delayed, football not really knowing who you would play each week because county colors came out. It could just turn your season upside down.

"But we were able to keep focused on our goal of ultimately getting to the playoffs and pursuing a state championship, which is what we wanted to do every year. So, we had great groups of guys I should say that were able to stay focused on the task and we went pretty far and I'm excited about that."

The talented Alt has returned to the Kanawha Valley this week as a member of both the North Bear All-Star football team and North basketball All-Star squad.

"I mean they're all great players. So it's tough competition. Tough game to get into because its come of the states best players that they have to offer. So its definitely a big honor to be here."

Alt has been a pleasant surprise for the North football coach. And after Friday's basketball game it will be all about football. And his future destination is right where the North-South football camp has taken place - West Virginia State University.

"Well, it really did feel like home when I came down for my visit. Coaches and everybody here was great. Academically, I felt like this was the best place for me. The program is strong in academics and keeping their athletes on the right path. So, it just felt like the best place for me."

Josh Alt should know doubt have a great career as he gets set to become a Yellow Jacket.
