The 37th annual Health Sciences Research Day was hosted by Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine Monday.

The event saw more than 150 students in health care programs along with postdoctoral trainees make presentations.

Top presentations, which require years of research, are awarded with travel scholarships with the goal of developing new projects and clinical breakthroughs.

"It makes good medicine," medical sciences graduate programs associate dean Dr. Richard Egleton said. "They have to be able to understand what research is to be able - when they see a new clinical practice - to understand if it has the evidence behind it."

The university’s largest pool of presenters yet analyzed topics including addiction and infectious disease.
