I grew up watching Mary Sue Jackson and Tom McGhee on WCHS-TV and was thrilled to join the Eyewitness News team in June of 2010.
I first realized I was interested in news storytelling during a high school tour at CNN in Atlanta, GA. I received my bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at Marshall University in 2007.
I began my journalism career at WOWK in 2006, working my way up from weekend assignment editor and associate producer to news producer. I was the morning producer when 29 coal miners were killed in an explosion at the Upper Big Branch Mine in Raleigh County. It was then that I learned the importance of communication, cooperation, and collaboration, not only within our station but with other news organizations to provide powerful, impactful, and informative coverage.
As the Special Projects Executive Producer for WCHS, I work to organize and manage our Town Halls, Election Coverage, Investigative Reports, and any other projects or special coverage thrown our way. I launched Eyewitness News at 6:30 on FOX-11 and helped launch our newest newscast, ARC Appalachia.
When I joined Eyewitness News in 2010, I produced the 10 p.m. newscast on FOX-11 and in 2017, I became the producer for our 6 p.m. newscast. As an evening producer, I received several awards, including the Associated Press Best Evening Newscast in 2012 and the West Virginia Broadcasters Association’s Best Evening Newscast in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
I switched gears, becoming our Senior Assignment Editor in 2019 before joining our management team as Special Projects Executive Producer.
I am married with two daughters and a son. My husband and I enjoy eating at local restaurants, cooking (he does most of it) and having a good laugh. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, doing yoga, being outside and just spending time with my family.
