Each year, we pause on Veterans Day to remember those who answered the call in the name of freedom.

Amazing America's Will Scheid takes us to five memorials that honor them in our nation’s capital.

November 11th is known as Veterans Day, but that wasn’t always the case. In 1919, it began as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I.

In 1938, it became an official national holiday, but it wasn’t until 1954 that Congress changed the name to Veterans Day to honor every American veteran who served in the armed forces.

Memorial Day, however, honors those who gave their lives in the name of freedom and is observed each year on the last Monday in May.
