The top-seeded Shady Spring Tigers and the No. 5 Scott Skyhawks reached Semifinal Friday as part of the West Virginia Boys State Basketball Tournament. Shady Spring prevailed with an emphatic 63-35 win, advancing to Championship Saturday.

The Tigers got off to a hot start, formulating a 20-5 run in the first quarter to take an early lead in the contest.

Both teams ramped up defensive efforts as Shady Spring was limited to eight points and a 5-minute scoring drought from Scott netted only five in the second quarter.

The Tigers carried a 30-11 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Following the break, Shady Spring came alive, going on a 7-0 run and pulling away from the opposition. The Tigers claimed a 25-point advantage at the end of the third quarter.

The lead proved to be too much to overcome, allowing Shady Spring to cruise to victory.
