FNR/North-South Classic: Late addition, Wynn, hopes to leave mark in Classic

Up until a week before practice, Clay County's Caleb Wynn didn't think he was going to get the chance to play in the Friday Night Rivals North-South Classic. But once the invite came in, he was happy to answer the call.

"I'm very happy I was chosen," Wynn said. "It doesn't matter that it was late. I'm happy to be given the opportunity to play."

The selection for the classic is just another nod to Wynn's great senior season after he quarterbacked the Panthers to the playoffs.

He was named to the Class AA all-state team as a special honorable mention.

Then, Glenville State College asked for him to join to the Pioneers football team.

"Glenville was one of the few schools which gave me an opportunity," Wynn said. "My coach made one call; they invited me to a game, got me into a visit. I just felt at home there."

But as Wynn embarks on the new challenges that await at Glenville State, he'll never forget what it was like overcoming the difficulties that arose after the devastating floods in 2016.

It was a full resurrection of a program that was on the edge of disbanding because it didn't have gear or even a field.

But through teamwork and a communal effort, Clay County is as strong as ever on the field and Wynn was happy to be alongside the rebuild for CCHS.

"That year hit us hard, Wynn said. "We came back from it pretty well. We got a lot of donations and stuff and good equipment. This year we got a brand new line of uniforms. It was a, but we came back from it well."
