Heavy rainfall brings flash flooding to northeast Kanawha County
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A flash flood warning was issued for northeastern Kanawha County through 2:45 a.m. Thursday.
The warning, which has ended, included the areas of Pinch, Elkview, Blue Creek and Frame.
More than 3 inches of rain fell in around one hour late Wednesday evening and resulted in flash flooding.
Reports said 3 feet of water was reported on New Hope Road near Upper Pinch Road.
Water was entering homes and trailers in the area and water rescues occurred Wednesday evening.
The water has receded since the rain has ended.
Remember to never drive across standing water on roads.
The Eyewitness Storm Team will be watching for additional downpours and thunderstorms forming with a cold front later today.
Some of those may produce additional pockets of heavy rainfall and strong gusts.
