Evan Pryor makes his return to the football field
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — After missing the 2022 season and 2023 spring ball, junior running back Evan Pryor is making his return to the football field.
“It was hard having to stay at home and watch games,” Pryor said. “I had to keep my legs straight for two months.”
Pryor clarified that he tore his patellar tendon. The running back injured it while practicing a wheel route.

He said he was nervous taking the field for the first day of fall camp, but has gained confidence and has grown more comfortable with every practice.
“You obviously want to get thrown right in there, but same time I don’t want to be in the same place last year,” Pryor said. “I trust them, whenever they put me in go hard.”
Running back coach Tony Alford said they don't want to “throw him to the wolves,” and that they have been easing Pryor back into the rotation.

“There’s going to be a transitional period of building him back into it,” Alford said. “He’s been good. He’s been chomping at the bit to continue to get more reps.”
With Pryor’s return, Ohio State’s running back's room is five deep with talent. The strength in the room has been breeding healthy competition.
“Any given play I can go the distance, but that’s all of our backs,” Pryor said. “I think we have the best room in the country. All five of us -- pick your poison.”
