WATCH: Elly De La Cruz homers twice in spring debut, leads Reds over Guardians

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (WKRC) - Elly De La Cruz is picking up where he left off. The Reds star shortstop homered twice in his spring debut -- one from each side of the plate -- on Saturday to lead his split squad over the Cleveland Guardians.
With the Reds trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, De La Cruz took right-hander Triston McKenzie deep from the left side on a hanging curveball. The exit velocity was 106.1 miles per hour and it went an estimated 450 feet.
Then in the 4th inning EDLC smoked one 109.1 miles per hour and 409 feet from the right side to tie the game at 2. That was off of left-hander Logan Allen and landed in a similar spot as the first one.
EDLC was the only Reds player with multiple hits in the game. Will Banfield added a three-run homer to lift Cincinnati to the 6-3 victory.
Alan Busenitz served up a 3-run walkoff homer to Vinny Capra, as the other split squad lost 8-7 to Milwaukee in Maryvale.
