UC baseball is 3-0 in the MEC tournament.

The Mountain East Conference baseball tournament from GoMart Ballpark in Charleston will have a local feel in Sunday's championship round when the University of Charleston and West Virginia State will square off for the title at 1 PM.

The Golden Eagles (42-8) are the top seed and have yet to lose in the tournament, so far going 3-0. One more victory and UC will capture the conference tournament championship. WVSU (31-19) will need to win twice in order to win the championship and have gone 3-1 so far in the tournament.

UC punched their ticket to the title game with a 12-2 victory over Fairmont State. It was a two-homerun performance from Eric Chartier and his solo homerun in the second was part of a 3-run inning.

Evan Ulrich also hit a 2-run homer in the frame and UC left the second inning with a 4-0 lead. UC would tack on two more runs in the third inning with a bases loaded hit by pitch and bases load walk. Chartier would hit his second homer of the game in the seventh inning to give UC a 7-2 lead and DrewKlaserner's 3-run homer in the ninth inning capped off a 5-run frame to give UC a 12-2 lead.

WVSU punched their ticket with their second win in two days over Fairmont State but Saturday's contest was a 15-14 high scoring affair that finished in the Yellow Jackets favor.

Mike Huber went 4-for-4 with two homeruns and 4 RBI to lead State. His first homer of the game gave WVSU an 9-8 lead with a 2-run homer in the fifth inning. Fairmont State scored five runs in the sixth inning to retake the lead 13-8. Huber would strike again with another 2-run homer in the seventh inning to make it a 14-11 game. WVSU would continue to rally and Mike Bittinger sparked a 4-run eighth inning with a 2-run single.
