The Logan Wildcats come roaring into football season with a new man in charge – Nick Booth, who was an assistant at the school not too long ago.

He gets to work with some of his same athletes, hoping that it leads to a faster start this year.

"There’s not been a really big adjustment,” Booth said. “Most of these guys know about me and I'm familiar with the majority of these kids. So the transition’s gone fairly smooth so far.”

Booth says this team will be a lot deeper on the depth chart this year, and the team knows how big that is. With talent littered up and down the depth chart, the Wildcats are primed for a breakout.

“Definitely working hard to rewrite the story,” quarterback Adam Baisden said. “Logan football has been down for a while. We're coming back. We got a lot of athletes, a lot of young guys coming back. Got the 2026 class – we've got a lot of starters out of that class working off the last three years.

"They kind of got left off our sophomore year and kind of just thrown out there. But it gave us the experience for now.”

This team is not only much deeper, but much more together. They’re trying to get the bad taste of last year out of their mouths by leaning on each other.

“It's been a lot more of a winning mentality coming into the season,” linebacker Braxton Wolford said. “We come in with a lot more confidence and a lot more chemistry. I love how it's looking and I think this is gonna be our best year yet.

"A lot of people have been in the weight room. We've been working together as a team and we've been getting up at 7 a.m. practices. So I feel like just getting up that discipline that adds everybody being there suffering together, it helps add a crazy amount of team chemistry.”

Top to bottom, Logan is high on themselves. In a few scrimmages, they’ve had a chance to really get a good look at each other, which has them feeling like the sky’s the limit.

“The linemen really stepped up a lot in that scrimmage,” Baisden said. “Didn't really have any bad sacks, didn't get touched very much. Then it steps in to our secondary. Our secondary’s worked hard – got a couple standouts.

“We're looking good in the scrimmage,” Wolford added. “Mistakes, I'm glad we make them there rather than the actual game. We're gonna be looking sharp. Can't wait to play Man.”

Week 1 is a Logan County showdown against Man – a big time rivalry and a game that means a lot to the communities. Both of those teams are ready to get the show on the road, with Logan aiming to right last season.
