The Red Dragons are coming into 2025 as a young team led by head coach Derrick Stotts who is entering is second year trying to rewrite the script in St. Albans.

"This year, we're really excited about who we have coming back," Stotts said. "We've got a four-year starter at quarterback. We've got a couple of young guys who are going to do some great things for us and we've got a bunch of hungry guys who want to change the course of the whole program."

The team has been working tirelessly in the offseason, forming a higher football IQ and learning what it takes to win. They finished last year strong, winning three of their last five matches.

"We have more confidence than we had last year," sophomore wide receiver James Lowe told Eyewitness Sports. "We lost a lot of people, but we have more that came in, We've been putting the work in over the summer. We're dedicated and trying to get better."

The young Dragons team is leaning on a few seniors to lead the charge and set the tone each day in practice.

"Anyone can step up at any time," senior quarterback Reece Lilly said. "Like coach says, there is no given position on any day. Every single one of them has the heart to keep pushing themselves. No one ever quits early."

St. Albans opens the 2025 season Friday at home against Shady Spring. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
