High school football is off and running in Ohio. Prior to the season opener with the Southern Local Tornadoes, head coach Bryan Morrow spoke with Eyewitness Sports about the season ahead.

"We're definitely excited. We've worked,” he said. “This is all since last December. We're ready to get it started and we're taking it one game at a time. That's all we can do."

South Gallia raced out to a convincing 54-7 victory Friday night at home showing the promise this team has.

"We return a lot of players this season so we're excited for it. We know we've got a lot of athletes, a lot of leadership here in the senior class,” he said. “We feel really good about what we have. We hope we can make it count this season."

This team proved Friday night it has playmakers.

"On offense we've got a lot of athletic players,” Morrow said. “Our offensive line, we've got a couple of new additions. It's interesting to see how they jell."

South Gallia is coming off a playoff season a year ago. Morrow feels the postseason is possible if his squad can navigate through a challenging schedule.

"Non-conference schedule is tough,” he admitted. “State champion Wahama is on that. In our conference we expect to be really competitive with a lot of guys returning for those teams."

Next up for the Rebels will be a short trip in Gallia County to meet up with the River Valley Raiders.
