"Considerable" Flash Flood Warning for Cabell and Lawrence County (Ohio) Cancelled
While many locations needed rain in recent days, some locations received too much Wednesday evening. A stalled thunderstorm over Cabell County and Lawrence County, Ohio, produced at least 4-6" of rainfall in a short time, resulting in significant flash flooding. This prompted a Flash Flood Warning with a "considerable" tag on it...meaning flash flooding was expected to be significant and life-threatening.
While that storm shifted into Wayne and Lincoln counties by midnight, runoff from the downpour kept some streams and creeks high after the fact.
A number of roads were reported closed around the Pea Ridge/Barboursville area as well as Rome township.
The most intense rain fell in a narrow corridor, with downtown Huntington receiving closer to 1" of rain with some brief street flooding and Milton receiving only around a half inch.
Remember to NEVER drive across standing water on roads...and flash flooding is especially dangerous at night.
As of 2:50 A.M., Flash Flood Warnings have been cancelled - but additional scattered downpours are still possible.
