Cold Case Files: Charleston teenage girl's murder remains unsolved three years later

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Wednesday marks three years since a Charleston teenager was murdered outside of her West Side apartment after coming home from the grocery store.
Laurina Blake's case is one of very few in Charleston that involves the murder of a teenage girl.
Now, her mother is speaking exclusively to Eyewitness News about the unsolved investigation for the very first time.
She describes her life as a living hell since her daughter, who was just 18-years-old, was gunned down on the city's West Side as she was starting to unload groceries into her Lovell Drive apartment.
"You go to the store, everything reminds you of her. It's hard to even go to the store because you just remember what she liked. You just break down in the middle of the store and start crying and people don't know why," her mother said.
On Wednesday, Nov. 30, on Eyewitness News at 10 and 11 p.m., reporter Leslie Rubin will revisit the case and explore why no one has been charged with Blake's murder, despite police publicly naming a person of interest in the case in the weeks following the shooting.
You will also hear why police say there are people who refuse to come forward with information about the investigation.
"We strongly feel that they know who the shooter is. Or at least point us in the right direction," Charleston Police Lt. Tony Hazelett said. "At this time, that has not happened."
