Morning Meteorologist

I was born and raised in Kanawha County, graduating from Sissonville High School in 2003, and I’ve loved the weather from a young age.

Instead of cartoons, The Weather Channel was usually on at the Stover residence. When I was six, I knew I wanted to be a meteorologist after going through the April 1991 derecho. My dad and I rode out that storm in his small truck after tee-ball practice—it felt like it was about to flip over!

I didn’t necessarily want to be on television at first, but after interning with Chief Meteorologist Doug Harlow, it grew on me. I earned my meteorological education at West Virginia State University and Mississippi State University.

My first job was at WDTV in Bridgeport, West Virginia, in 2010, but I’ve been here at WCHS since 2012. Besides the weather, I also get to hit the road with award-winning photojournalist Brad Rice for our Wild Appalachia segment. Getting to see our beautiful region up close and experience the outdoors is a blast!

At home, my wife, Kari, and I have two kids we adore—Sutton (7) and Seneca (5). We had to go with the West Virginia names :) They keep us busy, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. They’re growing up so fast!

When I do have free time, I really enjoy fishing—especially for brook trout in the Monongahela National Forest. I also enjoy rooting for the West Virginia Mountaineers, shooting basketball, watching tornado documentaries, the Jurassic movies, spicy food, and, more recently, bird watching. Yes, I’m hard to summarize ?

I appreciate you checking out my bio. Feel free to get in touch anytime!
