KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — Singer/songwriter Makenna Hope stopped by the ARC Appalachia studio recently to discuss her music, a career which she said started at a young age.

At the age of 7 she found herself in a talent show and her musical career has blossomed from there. By 13, she was doing full three-hour shows.

These days, she tends to play more intimate venues in the Kanawha Valley area, but also recently found herself playing a show in Alaska.

Makenna describes her music as more Americana, but doesn’t put too much time into thinking about genres and instead writes music she wants and lets the rest fall into place.
